What Makes a Hero?
What makes a hero?
Heroes are cut from the fabric of our very spirit.
Each strand making the next one stronger than before.
Creating an unbreakable bond. Iron that sharpens iron.
Brave men and women that live in our communities, teach in our classrooms, and build great companies.
They’re our Fathers, Mothers, Sons and Daughters.
They’re our Sisters; our Brothers.
They are called Firefighters, Policemen, EMT’s, and First Responder.
They are called Soldier, Airmen, Sailor, and Marine.
From Belleau Wood and the Frozen Chosen, to Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima, Fallujah and Kandahar.
And they have battled foes with names like Harvey and Irene, Irma and Katrina.
They’ve been through Main Street and Front Street… and even Ground Zero.
With the same fire and fury as the day before; they charged into theses places knowing they may not return.
Because of their oath; their duty.
Let us not forget these heroes that become before us; and those who will follow in their footsteps.
Because of them we can be happy and hopeful… We can be free.
That’s what makes a hero.
To all of those who run towards the storm…. THANK YOU!
